Search Engine tips

                   Search Engine tips

If you want to get some information about any topic using search engine, the search engine will search the given information and will provide a list of links of websites along brief description about each website. You should use the right search terms for relevant results.

The following points must be noted to search the information on the internet.

· •You can type all word in lowercase and also in uppercase, search engine will return the same result. But the best practice is type search keywords always in lowercase.

•Use + sign between words if you want to search the all words. For example, to search history of Football in Europe, type as:
history+Football+Europe

•To search the exact match, write the words in double quotation marks. For example to search the map of Europe, then type as:
"Map of Europe"

• Always avoid to use "and", "or" with search keywords, because these words will affect the search result.

New Live Maps Search Gadget

                     New Live Maps Search Gadget

There’s a new Windows Vista Sidebar Gadget that brings Windows Live Maps to your desktop.
Unlike the previous one, which did a great job of tracking traffic conditions in your area, this one is used to search Live Maps, even planning a route and getting directions right from the Gadget.

Read more at Mike Ormond’s blog where he explains the Gadget (he wrote it, after all).

How to search google for RAPIDSHARE links

How to search google for RAPIDSHARE links

If you wanna find some applications, files etc on rapidshare.de via Google, do the following.

Paste this into the Google search window (not the address bar):

site:rapidshare.de -filetype:zip OR rar daterange:2453402-2453412

* This searches the site rapidshare.de for any file that is rar or zip, and has been indexed between 1-11 February.

dvd site:rapidshare.de -filetype:zip OR rar daterange:2453402-2453412

* This is the same search but it specifically searches for "dvd" with the same search criteria, so any app posted with the word dvd in it will be found.

There are mainly three criteria to keep in mind when doing this search.

1. site: your site of choice to search

2. filetype: filetypes you wanna search, if you put a "OR" after the first filetype you can add more.

3. daterange: (start date-enddate)

* this uses the "julian calendar", converter can be found here:

Google Privacy Concerns

                 Google Privacy Concerns

Ever since the Google Street View program was released in May 2007, many people have been complaining about the privacy issues associated with it. Apart from seeing their houses on Google's Web site, people have reported seeing themselves on the Internet as well. Now, I'd say that's taking it a bit too far. If you agree, here’s how you can keep your home and yourself a little more private!

1.) If you don’t want your house to show up in the Google Street View program because of privacy issues, all you have to do is click on the Report a Concern button, shown below.

2.) Next, choose Privacy Concerns for the reason why you don’t want the image shown in Street View.

3.) Now, describe why you don’t want the image in Street View and then enter in your e-mail address.

4.) Next, move the Street View image until the red rectangle is centered over your property.

That's it! Google will then review your concerns and delete the image if they agree with you. Yes!
